Baba Desta is a recording artist based in Phoenix, Arizona. He began recording in 2014 and has since developed a distinctive sound at the intersection of hip-hop, Afrobeats, and R&B, informed by his Eritrean heritage and by American hip-hop and soul traditions. His catalog includes the 2025 album Baba Of The Year, the June Baby EP, and a series of singles including No Signal and JebJeb (ft. Yohanes).
Outside of his releases, Desta keeps a hand in audio engineering and photography — interests that grew out of the studio and continue alongside the music. His work and career have been featured in VoyagePhoenix.
